OK I need to get a world phone. In the $300 range. But I don't want a damn camera phone. What is my best bet. Ebay is fine with me. Of course need to unlock it.

I missed the "world" in the original post. That %^!# speed reading course I took! LOL.
The OP may want to use the Phone Finder on Phonescoop

Some info
Sprint and Verizon have "worldphones", but they are hybrid CDMA/GSM phones. I would check where you are going to travel for the GSM frequencies they use. If you want to be sure, then get a quad band phone, with 850/900/1800/1900 MHz. The US uses 850 and 1900, while much of the world uses 900/1800. Some countries are installing 850 MHz networks, though.
Korea and China and, I believe, Japan, have other networks, more advanced than what we use in the US.
If you want an "unlocked" phone, then you are looking for GSM. That will allow you to use local SIM cards instead of roaming internationally. You will have to check the prices for that to see if it is cost effective to buy local SIMs or just roam.
From what I understand, it is far easier and cheaper to unlock Nokia phones than Motorola ones, but Motorola makes the most quad band phones. I do believe that Nokia has a quad band coming out in the near future. I have a Motorola V505 which I chose because of its Bluetooth and quad band capability.

I really like my Nokia 6230. If you can wait a few months, Nokia is coming out with some really cool new phones.

I really like my Motorola V3 RAZR. Yes, it is a camera phone. Personally, I never use the camera feature (I wish they would offer more phones without it), but the phone is so thin that you really don't even notice the camera is there.
I picked it up through AT&T's National Business Ordering Center for $199 and I know Cingular offers it for $199 as well. You can buy more expensive unlocked versions for around $300+. I just went to a local cell phone store and had mine unlocked for $25.

Good world phone with no camera: the new Nokia 6021. Does just about everything you could want. And it's relatively cheap.
