its geniuos. you can make phonecalls now and you can invite people to telcos without hanging up and make new calls

Never understood the fascination with video conferences, I've been involved in VC equipment since the first Intel ProShare, but never got hooked on it.

From a "Let's all sit around the conference table and wave at each other" perspective, I agree. From a tele-demo or distance training/learning perspective, I've found them quite useful.
Back when I did IT for the animation/FX industry, one studio I worked at made heavy use of them for viewing "dailies". They had offices around the country and often collaborated on projects together. Being able to view the same clips/sequences in SFO, LAX and ATL and then get commentary was quite useful. Again though, that a special case.
