SIM card in SIN

1. Does singtel have prepaid SIMs? I couldn't find any info on singtel's pepapid SIMs.

2. I did, however, find information on M1. Has any one used them?

I will appreciate any comments. The $18 dollar card with 180 day life seems to be a good value for a short visit. Topping it up can xtend it's life by another 180 days from the date of top off.

When arriving at SIN, go to any of the money changers booths. Last time I was there, the SIM card from SingTel was free if you purchased S$25 worth of credit .

Unless you plan on making local calls on the move or international ones from your cell, it actually is extremely reasonable just to direct dial from your hotel room. Singapore is amazingly cheap internationally from hotels-an exception to exhorbitant fees. Just ask the conceirge how much a call is if it isn't already listed in the room directory.

M1

I have used the M1 card and my friend uses SingTel.

Both were easy to find and easy to recharge. I have been back 4 times in the last year and I just put the card back in and recharge a little to extend my time a half year.

One unusual thing is that on M1 you receive a text message after each call telling you your balance. Really more than I need to know, since you can always call.

Also, incoming calls are charged like in the US. So it is a local call to your mobile from a landline, not a premium amount as in most GSM countries. The rate is the same for incoming and outgoing.

There is also a variety of ways to make international calls on M1, you might want to check their website for details as they vary by time of day and the service you select when you dial (access code)
