If I can't figure it out soon, I may just give it back to the tech guys here at work and take a T42. I've just assumed it's the wireless card going bad, but will try some of the ideas here first.
Gleff-- thanks for keeping me company... Seriously, if you could report back after your tech supports gives you an answer, that would be great. I dont have the immediate option of switching so please let me know how things go.... thanks!!! ^

I'm using IBM Access Connections v. 3.30 on an X40 about a year old, and it works fine.
When I click on the Microsoft icon "Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter" (looks like a green bar graph), it opens a window called "Wireless Connection Status" that says "IBM Access Connections is managing your wireless network connection."

you're not getting DHCP

Are you using any MAC filtering on the router?
It sounds like you are not getting a DHCP address from the router.

try opening a command window and entering ipconfig/renew and see if that helps. You shouldn't have to do it, but sometimes...

FYI, on my spankin' new ThinkPad T42 (no drooling, please) I successfully uninstalled Access Connections from Add/Remove Programs with no negative effects to Windows XP's own connections software (Wireless Zero or whatever it is).

I did this also on my previous T41 and had no problems.

Gaucho, have you tried the "repair" option under the Windows wireless connection icon (right click the icon)?
