Wireless Card. Blue Screen of Death. Grrr!!!!
I have an external wireless card for my PC, D-Link Air Xpert. I'm using an IBM Think Pad computer. There are some wireless networks where the PC starts to boot up, but then the screen turns blue and is filled with error messages. This happened to me in the Omni Hotel in LA last weekend. They gave me a wireless radio to use instead of my wireless card, and it worked.
Is there a different card I should get that will work in all wireless networks? Or something that might work sometimes when my D-Link doesn't work?

Try latest driver.
Purchased a Netgear 802.11g card for a laptop, which caused it to go BSOD each and every time it was inserted.
Downloaded latest driver, problem went away. You might want to try that with your card.

One problem that occaissionally happens with wifi cards is that if you try a second one, the new drivers interfere with the old drivers. So you should always completely remove the drivers for the old card before you insert the new card.

Let's see, the places it didn't work were: NRT Admirals Club, Omni hotel in LA, World Club in LAX.........

DLink and BSOD
I have a DLink 650+ and was having all kinds of problems with it including BSOD followed by an unrequested reboot. A lot of times my pc just failed to determine it was present in the PCMCIA slot. In the end it turned out to be bad hardware and I am having replacement shipped under warranty.
It is possible I brought this on by putting the laptop in my briefcase with the card in it causing occasional stress to be put on the part of the card sticking out of the laptop (the plastic part) so it is possible I damaged the card rather that it being defective. I put in another older 802.11b card I had and it ran great and caused no problems.
When I get the replacement I will not transport the laptop with the card in and see how it goes.

I purchased a D-Link Wireless card and had all of these problems with WinXP. I returned it and got a Microsoft WiFi card and never had any problems since. I guess if anyone should know how to make a compatable device, they should be first in line.
