Do you encrypt files on your laptop?

If so, is it a company policy or a personal one?
What sw do you use?

I have a client that requires the hard drive on my laptop to be encrypted with Pointsec. It is their company policy.

I see you are in California - therefore, I'm sure you're aware of SB 1386.

We use Encryption Plus Hard Disk on all of our company's laptops.

I don't encrypt any files, but I don't have much worth encrypting. Most of our work ends up being available through the Freedom of Information act because of our public sector client base.

If there's really something that I want to encrypt, I have a local Lotus Notes database on my laptop where I can attach files to documents and encrypt them.

I use the Embedded Security Subsystem that was included with my Thinkpad. Is my own choice, and more for the protection of intellectual property than for privacy.

I have a steganos safe on my personal laptop. If I'm carrying a company laptop around then I keep any personal stuff which needs to stay secure on a password protected memory stick.

That, and keep the data on a thumbdrive or something you physically control.
