Olympus digital camera question ( No flash)

When I set my Olympus D-565 to NO FLASH mode it goes into the SLOW SHUTTER mode also. So all my pictures get bleary as "slow shutter" mode is very sensitive to movement. Why is this happening ?and how can i rectify this? Is my setting wrong?

Um, it goes into slow shutter mode because there's not much light? That's why it was trying to use the flash.

Some cameras have a manual mode where you can set the shutter speed; looking at http://www.steves-digicams.com it appears that the D-565 doesn't have a manual mode. Some cameras also have adjustable ISO dettings, but it looks like the 565 is ISO 100 only.
