Indication That Blackberry is Charging?

Just a quickie: I have a new Blackberry 7230 and have just plugged it into its charger for the first time (Blackberry->USB Cable->Travel Adapter). I think the small lightning symbol on the screen indicates that it is plugged into a power supply but I see no change in the battery meter (been plugged in for approx 10 minutes). Is this normal?

The battery indicator will gradually increase as it accepts the charge. It takes a couple of hours for mine to top off.
