Question Gemplus SIM copying & SIM editor. Do I need it?

Does somebody use Gemplus SIM copying & SIM editor?

http://www.gemplus.com/pss/telecom/index.html

...This tool lets the customer copy their phone book and messages from one SIM to another, helping SIM renewal and 3G migration....MySIMeditor, a user-friendly software that lets the end-user customize and manage their SIM data direct from his PC at home...
Gaucho100K had some trouble using this or a similar device ...
Do I really need It? Some cell phones (Sony Ericsson T610, other) let me exchange date from/to PC/Outlook.
Can I unlock a SIM with this device/software?
Thanks

It can be handy if you keep a lot of numbers on your sim. But nowadays most phones will let you sync though outlook or let you send all numbers over Bluetooth.

There are really cheap sim readers out there, personally I've not used on in years as all my numbers are in my phone memory and Outlook.
