Hotmail and Viruses?
Okay, I open my inbox and get this message:
What gives? My laptop was shut off and in my computer bag at the time/date stamp mentioned, and the desktop was shut off.

Your address is probably being spoofed.
Likely nothing you did. A virus/worm harvested your address from someone else's address book.

Your address is being faked as a from address on a virus mailing. No huge deal at all, the common ones in the last few weeks (netsky and the others) function that way. It was picked up from the mailbox or the address book in an infected machine.
