It's not so much a limitation of the cable but of the TDMS transmitters/receivers on either end. There are faster ones coming out which will allow the DVI spec to be upgraded in the higher resolutions. Generally you can reduce the blanking interval and get 1920*1200@60Hz. Some older vid cards have trouble with even UXGA.

Thread creep approaching.... Most newer PC panels and graphics cards not support reduced blanking to drive higher resolutions. If you DO get a new TMDS panel ALWAYS ENSURE it can support reduced blanking.
