DVD-R + Tivo in one box...

Anyone here know this device?:

http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/dvd/prod...?model=SD-H400

Looks cute Can it copy Tivo'd movies onto a DVD?

That would be nice, but the words "DVD" and "Recorder" never appear next to each other. It's just a combination Tivo Box & DVD Player.

I was confused by the heading "DVD RECORDERS" (on the top). Ah well... I'll just wait another year I guess...

It's not too hard if you know your way around a PC to hack your Tivo. You can add an ethernet connection. This allows you to download guide info over broadband rather than phone line. In addition, you can access and have some control over the Tivo on your home network. AND you can extract video (for your personal use, of course) and watch on a laptop while you're traveling.

For general hacking see the community forum and http://tivo.stevejenkins.com/

For extraction, which is taboo on the community forum, see:

It's my understanding that in China "no name" DVD+-R (etc) recorders/players with all the bells and whistles (outputs, progressive scan, etc.) have just gone under the $200 mark, it is also my understanding that they are "unlocked".
