what is USB fast charging?
I heard the term recently as a different mode of charging from a USB connection, much more rapidly.
Do you know what it is? Thanks

I think it's got something to deal with that USB can supply two different amounts of current depending on whether the port is powered (notebook & desktop) or unpowered (unpowered hub).

It may be a Zip Linq. It's a small brick that plugs in the wall and uses a USB connection to charge cell phones. A friend has one and it does charge very fast. He can get a full charge on his phone in about an hour. What it's doing to the battery is another question.

These are a USB cable that have one end to plug in to your USB cable and the other that plugs in to the device you want to charge, such as a cellular or PDA, but each cable is specific to the brand of phone you have. Nice thing is they are small and as a standard USB cable, so ideal for traveling. I got mine from CompUSA. I use mine with a new notebook carrying case CompUSA and Best Buy carry from APC called Travel Power Case.

I don't understand why my HP PDA's cradle has two cables, one for USB and one for a wall plug. I've seen other USB cradles for other PDAs with just one cable.
Why don't the manufacturers standardize on one system that would allow you to synch and to charge any device through a USB 1 or 2 port?
All you'd need is one USB cable to synch and charge all your toys.
