Digital Camera Help needed for a Newbie!!

Hello all- I'm hoping that this isn't a repeat of a former thread, but that some of you can be of help for me on an upcoming trip.

I have purchased a fairly inexpensive, but very small digital camera for our trip to Paris/Provence this summer. It is a "wallet sized" one from Logitech which only cost $75. I plan to use it as a "backup" when I don't feel like carrying a regular 35mm camera.

However, I have not used "digital" before and have a couple of questions:
1) This partcular camera only "holds" 52 pix.
2) If I have access to an internet cafe in Paris, etc....can I SAFELY download pix from the camera into my AOL account, or might that provide a "worm-hole" for others in the same cafe to get into my AOL account?
3) Is it even possible to "temporarily" download pix in order to free up space in the camera, or am I stuck with only 52 shots during our trip?

Thanks in advance for your help and Best wishes!! Dave

For use at internet cafes, you probably need to bring the cable and drivers that came with your camera. Your best bet for temp storage might be a usb thumbdrive or bring your laptop.

Most internet cafe's won't allow you to connect a camera though the "easy everything" cafes usually have a USB connector, that still leaves the issue of getting the software installed (not always possible)... I'd try to stick to the 52 photos or as said in the earlier post to bring a laptop.

You don't mention the mode, but if it is the Logitech Pocket Digital USB PC Camera it uses removable flash memory. Just buy a larger card, or two...

Thanks all for the help.....I will not have a PC with me, and probably don't have need for a memory stick...

OTOH: Thanks, birdstike, but it appears that my camera only has "on-board" 16MB memory (and, according to Logitech - has no ability to be "augmented") so it looks like ScottC's recomendation for "sticking" to 52 pix might be the winner...

Thanks again for the help...Best wishes, Dave

As a fellow ORDer, My wife and I take both film and digital cameras on our vacations. Sometimes even the camcorder. It seems that the film camera is getting used less and less. Even with film, when I get home and pay for them to get developed, I end up scanning them into the computer anyway. Quite a pain in the arse if you took more than 2 rolls. Sometimes when I am real lazy, I will take a digital picture of the film picture I make a slideshow on a cheap CDR with a complete audio soundtrack(mp3) that is playable on any dvd player. Parents and friends like this very much. They think I am a genious even though it is very easy to do. Pics much easier to email to people versus paying $$$ for getting mulriple prints. I have an APS film camera so film and developing are serious $$$. Digital storage is so cheap now. I have taken 1000+ pictures on one 128 MB stick and still had lots of space left on high quality setting. Seeing as you live in a city that has CDW and Abtelectronics, is it time to persuade to go digital yet? I don't think that you will like the quality of the pics that come out of your digital camera. Please don't use that as a reference. Let me know if you have any questions.
