NetFlix

I've been using this service for a few months now and was very satisfied until recently. The turn around time to get a new DVD from the time I drop it off at the post office until a new one is delivered is 12-14 days. THis is much more than when I first signed up. Even if I give the travel time 4 days in each direction (SEA-SJC) this still leaves 4-6 days for them to fill the order.

Anyone else notice an increase in delivery times?

The deterioration in delivery time has been going on for some time specially if you are an old customer. I've compared my delivery times (I was one of the very first Netflix customers way back when they first started) with those of a friend who recently enrolled. We've been comparing notes for the last 2 months or so. My friend gets his rentals at least 3-4 days ahead. My next-in-line choice always end up in the so-called "Release to Ship" status for at least a couple of days whereas my friend's choice goes from "Released to Ship" to "Shipped" on the same day.

When my plan expires this month, I will cancel Netflix and re-enroll as a new customer.

Thanks bp888 - good idea about the new enrollment.

I had great CS at the beginning but now my emails receive form letters back that don't address the problem although they do suggest that if you want fewer delays, don't have a title that isn't in stock as your next to be filled. They wait a day or so to see if it comes in.

Wow! I just cancelled my membership yesterday. The wait times in AK are bad enough, but the situation seems to have slowly deteriorated to a point where I don't want to mess with it anymore.

My Round-Trip turnaround from Boston deteriorated also: about 10-12 days on an average. I think many of the problems were in-house, since 1st class male from San Jose to Boston is usually just two days. I cancelled.

My last month too. Too slow getting new movies. What good is the service if I can't get new releases?

This has been coming for a very long time, when they stopped allowing you to pre register a return and they would ship out the next one that day. They keep extending their turn around to limit the number of movies you can get in a month.

Well, I was too lazy to cancel but I noticed on the most recent DVDs that the return is now out of Tacoma, Wa. (rather than San Jose) for me - about 10 miles away. I'm hoping for a faster turn around.

Perhaps they are expanding for better service?

I've noticed a dramatic decrease in turnaround time in the past few weeks. I see that the return address is Tacoma, very close to me. I'm a big fan of Netflix, especially for travel.

If they're building regional DCs, that will help everyone!

FWIW I use DVDovernight(.com). Limitations: only 4 DVDs and only for one week (ouch). I complete my transaction on a Thursday and receive my DVD's on the following Monday.
