Red Pocket Mobile

Just curious if anyone has experience with Red Pocket

T-Mobile is increasing our legacy plan by $5 monthly taking us to $95 a month for two lines before our Amex $10 trick.

So we’re annoyed and looking for options. We’re using the Netflix that comes with it, but not really much else. Maybe Hulu when Shogun season 2 comes on.

It seems to include free roaming and data in Canada which is essential but nothing international - not even for a fee.

It would take our cost down from a net $85 to $68 (including replacing Netflix). But not being able to roam abroad without buying another eSIM and then losing text messages while abroad on our home number would be a hassle.

Thoughts?

If you have an iPhone, you can use IMS to send/receive texts and calls using RP WiFi and the data of the local eSIM. I have used RP AT&T with IMS when traveling to Europe. I have no experience with RP using an Android phone. RP AT&T doesn’t charge minutes to check voicemails but RP T Mobile does. I was not on an unlimited plan.

Which RP plan are you considering? After leaving post paid, I have bounced between MVNO’s before settling with Total by Verizon.

I was looking at Red Pocket on the Verizon network - if we're going to make a change, I would prefer getting a better network in the process

It isn't just the network but also a MVNO's data prioritization on that network https://www.reddit.com/r/NoContract/..._carriers_and/ I went from Verizon Prepaid with QCI9 to US Mobile Warp with QCI8 (higher priority on congested networks) on a recent model iPhone. I'm able to get data signal with USM Warp in a few places where Verizon Prepaid was severely throttled to the point it didn't seem like it worked. It also gave me 5G UWB in a couple places. Verizon Prepaid didn't support UWB on my plan at the time.

If your frequent routine places are fairly set like mine are, I'd advise subscribing for a bit and checking your coverage before you port. It does mean paying for an extra phone plan if they don't have a free trial program but can save some headaches. One of the places I go has decent signal with T-Mobile but very little with Verizon and AT&T.

Once I was over my fear of porting, I have used Cricket, Mint, Consumer Cellular, Visible, Ultra, Total and Red Pocket ATT & T Mobile. I will try US Mobile Warp speed within the next year.

i have not used Red Pocket Verizon. Try the service, you can port to another MVNO since you are not bound by a carrier finance plan. I was a loyal ATT customer but after a mistake on my son’s line, the loyalty quickly eroded.

US Mobile looks intriguing $35 per line and that includes 10GB of global roaming (I assume per month, although it’s not clear)

what’s also not clear is the speed difference between the different US Mobile branded tiers
