Android Auto / Google Assistant Driving issues
I have been using Android Auto navigation with my Galaxy S21 for a couple of years. It almost always worked, although I found it was sensitive to aftermarket USB cables. Yesterday the OS was updated to Android 12, and suddenly the car does not recognize the phone when it is plugged in. It charges, but does not connect to display the map. Bluetooth is connected, but I have to use the USB connection for the map. I used a non-OEM cable that worked last week, but no dice. I did some digging, and found that Google wants to get rid of Android Auto, replacing it with Google Assistant. I can't figure out for the life of me how to start the Google Assistant driving mode - various help guides list options that I don't see at all. It looks like Google has destroyed a perfectly working application to relace it with something that doesn't work - but is now part of the OS. Any ideas what I can try?
