5G also makes using wireless for home/business internet at least somewhat feasible, in theory anyway. Hopefully that pans out, especially since (in the US) we seem to have given up on further wireline internet rollouts.

I have eliminated cable home internet and now get my home internet from T Mobile Home, which is a wireless signal from a cell tower.
I am matching Xfinity speeds usually, and sometimes exceeded the Xfinity speeds. Its $50 a month. I'm not getting 5G speeds yet, but it is usable for my needs.

The providers in the UK have limits, which makes home use unfeasible for some people.

No limits. And they gave me unlimited data on my cell phone plan too. Its still a little clunky, but its a good alternative to cable internet. I think its a promising start to get high speed Internet access through a signal vs a cable.

I've seen advertisements for some international carriers, like Telecom Italia has it in some of the bigger cities.
I don't know if any of the US carriers are offering international roaming on 5G plans?
Has AT&T for instance said they'd carry over the international roaming to 5G networks?

I have a Samsung 4G tablet with Verizon. It has limited memory and needs to be upgraded. I know that Samsung has a 5G tablet which is available only in South Korea. I think it is worth waiting for a 5G tablet, don't you?

As most have stated here, USABLE 5G is generally only a smidge faster than 4G. The millimeter wave 5G which is appreciably faster, is very limited. You can only get it in city centers with line of sight to the tower. If you spend lots of time working on downtown park benches, then yes.

I've always had iPads with cellular.
5G iPad is rumored for later this year or early next year.
The first 5G modems are power hungry and hot.
We will see if Apple gets Qualcomm's newest generation modems for iPhone 12 and next iPad Pro.
I usually get a local SIM with plenty of data to tether my other devices including sometimes a laptop. So the faster the better.

That all said, LTE is theoretically already capable of gigabit speeds; US carriers just pretty much never built up the capacity to enable those speeds.
