Visual voicemail came way before Wifi Calling. I would think they would have enhanced and perfected the VMM technology by now and it would work over Wifi...

It seems this might be phone and carrier dependent? For example:

https://support.bell.ca/mobility/rat...article?step=7 - "Note: A data plan is required for iPhone Visual Voicemail to work. It is not available through Wi-Fi."
https://www.verizon.com/support/visual-voice-mail-faqs/ says IOS works over Wifi but not Android

???

As I mentioned earlier, I have not experienced the Visual Voicemail problem when using IMS with AT&T.

Apple has published features supported by the different carrier. Not all carriers support Visual Voicemail or WiFi calling link.

USA data SIM card advice

Off topic but I wondered if anyone has any advice or recommendations re pre buying a data sim against picking one up at Las Vegas airport? Are they even worth getting for a driving holiday in Arizona? Never used one before, currently on Giff Gaff

Airalo works really well as an e-sim and there are referrals about. Or just buy a 3 PAYG sim with a data pack which gives full connectivity when roaming (no additional charges) including calls.

I usually use airalo and skype credit for calls these days. But 3 is great too and you can buy loaded sims on amazon.

Another +1 for Airlo if you have a E-Sim compatible phone.

Used them several times and only had one issue with them (ironically in Vegas, wasn't counting my data correctly.)

I believe yes if your phone is unlocked and according to Airlo (but I'm an Android guy so don't confirm me)

Yes it is as is the iPhone 14. Not sure about earlier models. I also use Airalo regularly. Most of the time the hotels have free Wi-Fi so you won’t need much in the way of data on the strip.

Great, so e sim is just a download then? I am not tech savvy as you can tell!

iPhone 13 here and it is also e-sim! Plus another vote for Airalo - I have used them in Doha, Dubai and Kenya seamlessly this year!

Yes. You can have 2 esims active or just disable your home esim if you do not want to configure IMS. You can check messages on the hotel WiFi.

To verify your iPhone is unlocked for multiple esims. Go to settings, general, about, carrier lock to verify the message is “No SIM restrictions”

eskimo has 1GB free data that expires 2 years , you can load it now to try our the procedure. There are generally 3 ways to activate ESim, providers may differ (scan QR code, copy&paste installation URL, app auto installs), Eskimo is the first two

https://www.eskimo.travel/free-esim.

They're not the cheapest when. Buying but nothing beats free
