Skype help?

EDIT: Test finished but see post #4 for additional question
-----
Next month, I have a video business call that I have to make on Skype. I don't want to admit to the other party that I'm a doofus because I don't use Skype. I've downloaded it to my smartphone but I have to test it to make sure it works.

Any advice? Specifically, would you either call me or I'll call you? You can hide and point the camera at the wall or a book. If you don't want to talk, just turn on the TV. As soon as I am sure I can navigate it, we're done. It might take seconds or a minute at most.

Test mostly finished.

The other party phoned me by Skype. We could hear each other and I could see him but he couldn't see me. That is satisfactory because I only need to see pictures that the other caller next month wants to show.

I couldn't find any kind of settings that I need to adjust. I did call back by Skype and there was no answer but I could see the camera pointing at me.

Any hints to set it so both callers see each other? This is not critical but will prevent me from looking like a doofus.

Skype help?

You have to allow your mobile device to access the camera.

First, make sure your connection has enough bandwidth. I've had Skype refuse to connect a video call if the quality of connection was high enough.

Make sure both of you have Skype IDs. Then pull up his contact and click on the Camera icon instead of the phone icon. If both of you have quality connections it will be automatic.

If this video business call is for a net meeting of some kind, consider loading Skype on to your laptop. A lot better picture quality and the picture isn't shaking around like it does when you're using a hand phone. Plus your hands are free to take notes.

This seems an ideal thread for the Travel Technology forum where new members and veterans alike help each other. I'll move this to that Forum. Ocn Vw 1K, Moderator, TravelBuzz.

Second this. I've never seen it refuse to use the camera in the first place but I've seen it switch the camera off on it's own when the link wasn't sustaining the needed bandwidth.
