free/simple webcast software

A few very old threads on this...

Any views on decent/simple/free software for webcasting? This is for one-way sharing of a laptop screen to multiple (but only a few) people, no need to audio which would be done through existing conf call facility.

Back in the day when someone else was paying I used webex, so that kind of thing - I see they have a free option now, is that good?

Thanks

My company uses Zoom. It's easy to use. They have a free plan that lets you do 1-to-1 screen sharing, or you can have up to 25 participants for $10/month.

Try google hangouts.

Also, it automatically creates a video that is posted to youtube.com for those that can't make the live broadcast.

Does Hangouts let you share screens? I didn't realize that.

Webex has a free tier that allows up to 3 participants, and either computer audio or integration with a 3rd party audio.

Try going over to Google and search "open source webcast software". Developers in the past have ran into the same issue of not wanting to pay for webcast software, thus we have those out there.

Typically my first bet before going for any paid software is to Google "open source X software". X being the type you need. Tend to work well and if the project runs out of steam, just look for any willing person who writes code to help make it work

thanks all. After due consideration of the options, we're going to go there and present in person
