Need suggestions: Task mgt application/app

I am probably forgetting some, but here are the desires or considerations:
  • Windows software with
  • App integration (preferably both Android and Apple)
  • Team members based in several different locations (most in US) but travelling periodically
  • Needs to have ability to assign tasks and check progress of these
  • Covering many discrete tasks rather than a single project with parts
  • Different groups/teams of people on different tasks
  • Preferably some integration with Outlook
  • Alarms, reminders, calendars, etc. etc. etc.
  • Prioritizing options (colors or some such)
  • Intuitive
  • Can print calendars of upcoming tasks with filters (Joe can print a calendar which shows only his tasks, for example)
  • Reputable company, good security, etc.
  • Not a data hog when roaming, especially outside country

I understand that there probably won't be the product that covers all of the above, at least not without spending a boatload of dough, but the FT gang may surprise me.

Thanks for comments.

Remember The Milk will do this, if you take advantage of lists and and sharing. Either a group account or shared lists between discrete users.

cblaisd and MAN Pax,

Thanks for the suggestions. From the skimming I have done, I am not getting a warm, fuzzy feeling about the ability to delegate specific tasks to discrete smaller groups and monitor progress and completion. So I may have task A that I want to assign to person X to perform and person Y to review by a certain day each month. I would like to see if X is working on or has completed the prep and if Y has started or completed the review. Assume that X and Y are also on the same program.

The other program that has come up in this search is Wunderlist, but I have similar concerns about the delegation abilities of that app.

Regardless, I appreciate the comments.

Take a look at Basecamp, it is web based. We use it for project management. I think the following up on progress may be the toughest part. Another one to check into is Asana, also web based. We are testing that internally currently. We have been using Basecamp for several years.

Looks like Basecamp may do it for you, as it appears that you're looking for project management and tracking functionality.

Remember the Milk will do what you want, though you will need to work at it: Create a List for Task A and set items in it for the task to be done and the review activity. Share the list with your colleagues and get them to update the status of the activities.

Thanks for the additional thoughts. Basecamp and Asana particularly look promising.

Check out Todoist .... is great if you have gmail as you can turn your emails into tasks and also has limited team delegation functionality.

Yes, I mentioned that upthread a bit. It has some nice features. We use a combination of Basecamp, Asana and Google docs for most things.
