new microsoft Surface Pro & Windows 8: keyboard function keys

I am in early part of a long trip, using new hardware & win.1. Online opportunity limited at best. Title says part of story. Want to know how to display the function keys on soft keyboard. I need to do "System Restore" due to a virus (piggyback with a legit download, virus known as Regclean pro). Normally, in win 7, I would restart with F11 press during boot up.

Note: boot up on this baby is so swift (like 4 to 5 seconds), not sure how to this.

OR, is it possible to UNINSTALL it, if so, how?

Appreciate any assistance. Thanks.

Note: I still can go online and open some apps.

First order of business once you have restored would be to get a decent virus/malware scanner. Shame that Windows 8.x is no further along in protecting users from this kind of headache. With the R&D budget that MS has thrown at Windows, you'd think we (users) would be more protected than we are.....

Looks like the post from bullroot answered the question. Usually you can keep your files through a refresh process.

You can also get to advanced boot settings (that let you choose Safe Mode, etc.) in the new Windows 8 control panel by going to Update and Recovery > Recovery > Advanced Startup.

Windows 8 has antivirus and antimalware builtin, what used to be called security essentials and defender is part of the OS now.
