Sony Outlet Store

Probably not the right place to put this, but wanted to get some opinions.

I ordered a Refurbished Sony Ultrabook that was on sale from 1599.00 to 899.00 and after my coupon it came to $600 plus tax. It had free 2 day shipping and an estimated ship date of this past Monday. I called last night to see the status since it hadn't shipped and I was told it was now out of stock and I would receive an email if it ships (big emphasis on the if part). I was told I could upgrade and buy a new laptop (which was about $1000 more after the upgrades that were on the refurb that I was looking for). I called today and spoke with various people for 2 hours and they said they could cancel my order, but they would not offer the discount on a similar model, even though my CC was charged and the item was paid for. They offered to upgrade shipping but the additional $300 would be on the price because the promo is over. To make matters worse, the only similar laptop they had was $1100 so it would be a $500 more and they would not honor any discounts and the price was as marked. They continually tried to sell me new laptops rather than refurbs and even said "if you buy a refurb, we can't guarantee you'd ever receive a laptop due to inventory even if it states in stock online" which was interesting.

Here's my question. Has anyone ordered from Sony or had an experience like this? I want to get a new Ultrabook for work but since it won't be my main personal laptop, I don't want to spend a ton. Looking for advice or what others have done or if anyone has had service like this.

I'd give it some time - inventory changes a lot, and chances are it could suddenly ship. With a discount like that, a bit of patience is justified.
