As an aside, when you get the message to accept the GPRS/APN settings and select "full install", it asks me for a PIN, it is not one I have set, is not 0000, 1234, didn't try 9999, and the message has gone away now, but what PIN number do you use? It is also not the one I have for the phone. Just odd. I did have it at the outset of my Toggleventure and cannot recall what I did.

Rates change?

I spotted this at moneysavingexpert.com http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...34889&page=57:

Toggle Mobile charges change
Toggle Mobile appear to have laid off their Twitter and Facebook staff and anyone involved with communication in general. In particular they haven't informed customers of their latest rate changes.

It appears that they have finally caught up with the latest EU ruling on mobile costs. It means that in order to pay for the reduced text costs, for example, they have risen their rates whilst roaming in their "local" countries with a local number.

Texts now cost 9p each unless you switch the setting to simple Roaming without the local number (then it is 5p.) So, to save money in the EU, it involves some faffing around but worth it if you send a lots of texts. You are stuck, though, with the higher costs in the USA for example.
I had already found that callback rates had disappeared, for example from South Africa. I have not yet checked rates in 'my' countries and offer this as a heads-up.

Currently in the US at the moment and texts to US numbers using my local US number are now 9p, texts from local US number to EU numbers are 5p.

Did anyone find a fix for this error message when trying to add a local number I keep getting the following

"MSISDN is not allocated for this subscriber"

Thanks

Been having some issues with them recently. I bought a Sim a month ago and it hasn't arrived (polish address). Tried emailing them but they have yet to get back to me.
Any ways to get thru to the cs to either issue a refund or resend the card?

Thanks. I'll try to give them a call.

yes, email works best IMHO..they usually respond within about six hours..and then fairly timely thereafter.. or you can email them a number anywhere in the world and they will call you back.

Thanks. I tried to call them but can't get thru
I emailed them but got the same response as last time -it's escalated to a dept. I'll dispute the charge and see if that will speed it up.

If you don't hear back, try the method I outlined here. It worked for me.

I did that via email today (deadlock letter). Let's see what they say.

Toggle price increases?

I'm used to paying 3p (GBP 0.03) per minute to landlines in/between Toggle markets and 3p to 9p (GBP 0.03 to GBP 0.09) to mobiles. This is still the case for some markets, e.g. UK to Switzerland; UK to US; UK to Spain; Switzerland to US and v.v.; US to US.

I've not done a comprehensive check, but I noticed the following all show significant changes: UK to UK; Switzerland to Switzerland; Switzerland to UK; US to UK; Spain to UK. All of these are now 7p per minute for calls to both landlines and mobiles.

Still good value for me.

Oh, one other thing. I sent myself a text message 19 hours ago - got to keep my balance! - but it hasn't arrived yet. But the 5p charge shows, so the life of my balance is extended.

I hadn't looked until you said it. Over 100% increases in some cases which I do not like, even though it is still good value, I wonder if this is the beginning of the end for Toggle.

I call myself every sixteen weeks (112 days, a few days short of the 120-day limit) to keep my accounts alive. US-US calls are just £0.03/min, one-third the cost of an SMS. Toggle upholds its proud tradition of inconsistency by sending my phone a flurry of SMS's when I turn it on, one of which informs me that US-US calls cost £0.09/min. They always bill at £0.03 though.

12 months ago I used Toggle on a trip to the UK, Denmark and Switzerland and found them very good.

For £25 I received the sim (by post to Australia) and £20 credit, which I used to buy 1GB of data for roaming in the three countries I visited.

As that took all of my credit, originally I used a previous O2 sim (from an earlier visit) in another phone for texting and occasional calls, but later during the trip I bought a £5 Toggle voucher from a shop and started using Toggle for texts as well.

Generally I think their text costs are cheaper than O2, and their call costs similar, except that O2 still seem to offer a cheaper rate for calling from UK to Australia, 1p per minute if you recharge the right amount (Toggle is 3p per minute).

Toggle certainly offers a better option for data roaming, as O2 is quite expensive in Europe (£2 per day for data).

I found Toggle's customer service very good when I emailed several queries or rang about internet connection issues when I moved countries.

To keep the Toggle sim active whilst back home in Australia I have to send a text (or make a call) every 90 days.

Next time I visit the UK I might only use Toggle.

The only limitation I can see is that they currently do not sell nano sized sim cards.
