Well, this is my first Android phone and I have to say that Google Now is both cool and creepy. I let it search my email and track my locations, so it knows everything! I get ship and tracking info on stuff I ordered on internet, and it knows where I want to go and the traffic before I woke up. It will tell me if my flight is delay or what time I should leave the house to pick up my sister from the airport. Here is the most creepy thing... because I drove to my parents' house quite often, it now listed it as a desire destination of travel. When I told my wife about this, she said oh... lets check your phone and see where else do you go frequently.. any girlfriend I don't know about??
I know I could turn it off any time, but it doesn't really bother me. But I think it would really bugs a lot of people and creep them out.

The Note II is a nice improvement over the Note, I just saw it in person and really thought it looked and felt amazing in the hand, the original was just very awkward to hold and use, too wide for sure.

The speed is insane. My wife's friend, who just received an iPhone 5 as an early Christmas gift, was over last night. They were "racing" phones and it was crazy how the Note 2 performed in comparison. I was planning to wait a few more months for my next phone but I might need to cave in and go for a Note 2 myself.

Now I'm sort of regretting not getting a Note2 when I was in HK and ICN last month...it looked like half the people with mobile phones seem to have a Note 2, but when I tried my friend's to make a call, I just couldn't get past the feeling I was holding a dinner plate to my face....it didn't feel right.
I might consider picking up an unlocked version in TPE in Feb, but I'm still curious about the S-IV which will be announced around Feb/Mar for possible May release - it might beat the Note2 in functionality with a smaller form.
After spending a few hours fixing my mother's malfunctioning HTC Desire C, I've lost my Android phobia and I feel more comfortable working with that OS, except I don't like all the bloatware that seems to come with and the tiny app icons are really annoying (as is the keyboard).

(In addition, for T-Mo in specific, the GN2 has a better international band support than the GS3, and the prospect of LTE later on the GN2.)
Oddly, I find the icons a little too big on the GN2 -- the Samsung launcher forces it to a 4x4 matrix on the home pages -- the built-in widgets are not usable with LauncherPro, but I have not yet decided which tradeoff is better.

The keyboard varies phone to phone, and you can download others; one of the reasons I picked the GN2 over the GS3 is that the GN2 has a slightly better soft keyboard -- with visible numeric row.

It is also just blazing fast, yes faster than stock. I also like the ability to add gesture based commands on it, so I can do a swipe to open the drawer etc.

I'd recommend checking ADWLauncher instead of GoLauncher, it has a great launcher and seems to work with every widget, stock, manufacturer addon, etc

ADW is the only one really needed, so many customization there and a solid, fast product that is free.

If you root, it's pretty trivial to upgrade the stock launcher to a larger grid size. Mine is at 5x6 and it's a big improvement over 4x4. It's really puzzling that they stuck with the 4x4 configuration.

Haven't seen a need to root yet, but it's good to know it's simple to do if I get around to it.
