Sorry to hear of the issues with you wife's 4. I upgraded my 4 and have had no issues. The only thing I notice is it seems to take longer to charge from the same level of charge.
@everyone else - I can't see what the big deal about youtube is - it was an app. Get another app :) The maps are a tad crappy, true, but then I never used them that much anyway :) |
iOS 6 is here
Two quirks from me (iPhone 4)
1) when I updated to iOS 6 my email became un searchable. I enter 2 characters into the search field and it just locks up 2) today I upgraded to iOS 6.01 and now my cursor has vanished so editing text is a bind Always annoying when you think a minor upgrade might fix a bug in a major release but it just causes another bug |

That's exactly why there is no 6.0.1 on my 4S... I'll hold out for 6.1 and see what people are saying a few months after.
My iPads are still on 5 - don't even want to get started with 6. |

I am not a very big user of the maps software- so if this is important you may want to check with someone in the country you live in to see if and how it works- other than that though it is actually a bit better in some respects. |

My attitude about updates is this: If the version of the software that I have on the device currently does everything I need and does it well there's really no need to update unless if fixes a flaw that affects me regularly. If there are no real flaws in the version that I'm using I'll continue to use that. I take the same attitude with my laptop. Currently Macs are using Mountain Lion aka 10.8 but I'm very content to still be running the latest version of Lion (10.7.X) I'm aware of things that have changed (such as being more iOS-like) and a few other piddling things, but unless I can see some really good reason to update to a new iOS or Mac OS I just don't see why I should pay (the minimal) amount of money for the new version which more often than not has developed new kinks in the latest version which will have to be fixed on an upcoming update which itself may introduce new bugs.

Another potentially nasty bug surfaced on iOS 6:
Bug in Apple’s iOS 6.0 triggers multiple downloads of podcasts, audio streams, causing data overages http://thenextweb.com/apple/2012/11/...data-overages/ It's been fixed in iOS 6.0.1, so if you haven't upgraded here's a good reason to do so. |
