Cool Republic Wireless sign up open again

Republic Wireless, the cell phone/VOIP hybrid with $19 unlimited service on cell/text/data which routes calls over your wifi connections whenever possible is open for sign ups again. Can be used to make wifi calls to the US from overseas. May be a good deal for some people. YMMV, of course.

How does Republic work with MMS and short codes? This seems to be an area where many of the independents have a problem getting it right?

It's $20 a month
It falls back on to Cell networks when you are not in Wifi areas

With Google Voice you will still need to pay for a cell phone plan with somebody for internet access, at least when you are out of a WiFi area

With this you don't.

There is no competition to Republic Wireless that I know of at the $19/month pricepoint. I've had my RW phone since December and am very pleased with it.
