Jailbreak Advice
I read over at Redmond Pie that a tetherless Jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 is coming this weekend. My jailbroken iPhone is still at 4.3.3. Do I want to grab the iOS5.0.1 upgrade before Apple maliciously pushes 5.0.2? I have a copy of the ISPW for 5.0.1, but am assuming that it isn't like retrograde.

I know if you had upgraded to 5.0 and saved the SHSH blob, you were ok. I'm not sure about 5.0.1?This might help:

Are all Apple upgrades malicious, or is it just the ones that coincide with random stuff going on in the hacking community? My guess is that Apple product managers are timing their releases to provide new features, fix old bugs, etc. and any jailbreaking plans that they foil are coincidental.

A malicious upgrade (in my mind) is one that is released very closely to a jailbreak under circumstances where you can reasonably infer that the prime purpose was to patch that jailbreak. I'm sure it will fix something else as well, they always do, but if the upgrade fixes a timezone change for a city of 800 in the Southwestern Outback and patches the jailbreak, I think it qualifies as a "malicious upgrade." I think people need to remember to disable their OTA upgrades.

I wouldn't necessarily call it "malicious" though because a jailbreak entails security vulnerability. So Apple releases it as a security patch, with some "bug fixes" or new "features" for show.
