Camera zoom on iPhone 4???

Earlier this year, I bought a iPhone 4. Not the 4s that came out a couple of weeks ago.

This fall, while traveling, I suddenly discovered a zoom feature on the camera. I took numerous pics using that feature. I have several pics taken from one location ... close-in, far-away, etc. I have no idea how I got the feature to appear on the screen.

Now, I can't get it to work. I went to an Apple store this week, and none of the geeks knew anything about a zoom feature.

Any help???

If it's iOS 5, you reverse-pinch to zoom in. Once the slider appears, you can zoom out/in by pinch or reverse-pinch or use the slider.

If it's iOS 4, you tap the screen and use the slider that appears.

You won't get the zoom option if you have the HDR option turned on. Click on options and make sure HDR is off if you want zoom or flash.

The Apple store didn't know how to make it work? Surprising.

I am really surprised the folks at the apple store could not get something this basic to work.

I'm with you. I've been a Mac user since 2002 and I'm amazed at how *every time* I ask one of those "Geniuses" about something it's readily apparent that their knowledge is considerably lower than mine.

It is a digital zoom - a far inferior replacement for an optical zoom like you'd get in a digital P&S camera. If your planning to use zoom a lot, I'd just find a very small P&S camera to drag around when you want to.
