Bad technology week....
You ever have one of those weeks where technology, well, just breaks? Odd stuff, too.
Started yesterday - the SIM card in my US MiFi went bad. Yeah, the SIM card. After 15-20 minutes of use the red "error" light came on, and the internal mifi web page said "Insert SIM". Clean contacts on the card, re-insert, 15-20 minutes later, same thing. Tried it in my International MiFi, did exactly the same thing. Off to the ATT store today, SIM replaced, everything works fine now.
How often does a SIM card go bad? Especially one that's left installed all the time?
Oh, and the Android phone locked up for reasons unknown (one of the icons was highlighted and it recognized no other touches). Had to pull battery for hard reset.
Continued last night... one of the large USB3 drives I use to back up the computer couldn't be recognized. Nope, make that all of them. The USB 3 port locked up on the computer, restart required. I did get the backup done.
This morning, I walked into my home office to the sound of a device alarm. Nope, not any of the UPS units, nor the desktop, nor the backup drive. Nope, it was coming from the NAS box, which runs RAID 6. Drive #2 had hard-failed with IO errors. I keep a couple of spares around (these are enterprise drives, mind you), so I hot-swapped it, and the RAID began a rebuild. We're now within minutes of completion, and I see a red light on the box, showing that drive #1 is offline. I'll wait until the RAID finishes rebuilding, then try and figure out what's up with Drive 1.
Looks like my tech karma isn't good this week.....
Just venting.

I'd settle for some dry days. It's raining (again, since Sunday) here in DC. If the humidity is much higher, I'll need to run the AC.
I've never had a SIM card go bad. Never. Regardless of static (or being in a plane struck by lighting.
Maybe it's the ghost of Steve Jobs...
