Iceland Data SIM?

I posted in the prepaid SIM thread sticky but nobody has replied...maybe a separate thread will garner more views.

I'd like to know the best option for a prepaid data SIM in Iceland for about 10 days. Where can I buy it, and what will it cost?

I've tried looking at Vodafone.is and a couple of the other carriers (whose names I forget) but don't really understand how to get what I'm looking for.

Thanks for any help!

edit: I found the English part of Vodafone's site. I'm looking for a data option for my Nexus One. I don't need a USB stick and am not bringing a computer. Their data SIM option appears to only include 5MB of data, at 25 ISK each. Ouch.

You should look here. It will give you some idea on what's available in Iceland. As to where to purchase the SIM you'll probably have better luck in the main shopping areas but if it's like it is in Europe you may be able to get a SIM kit at small shops as well. As for your "ouch" that's the way it is with prepaid pretty much everywhere. The only way to get a better data rate is to be a billed subscriber and that's probably not likely unless you have an Iceland credit file.

OK, so it seems Siminn has by far the best 3G rates. Depending on how easy it is to find a shop, I may just leave my phone off and use wifi in our hotels at night...

Thanks for that site! I hadn't seen it.

I was able to get a Siminn kit a few years back at the Elko electronics store in the international area at KEF. The shopping area is straight ahead when arriving; do it before going down to baggage claim and customs.

At the time I did just voice only, so I don't know how their data coverage/rate are. The kit was in Icelandic, but they do have English support on the phone. They can also switch your account to English so balance messages, etc., will be in English.
