Good site for checking on all driver updates

Drivers go out of date all the time without our knowledge, or at least w/o MY knowledge. What is a safe site for checking all my drivers? I came upon Driver Whiz and it says I have 14 out of date drivers. Is it a safe site? Do I really need to update all my drivers? TIA.

I used a program called DriverMax, and quite a few of the "updated" drivers weren't signed and in beta. Not the best use of my time that one. So whilst you may have 14 "uncurrent" drivers, if they're working leave well alone...

Windows 7 seems pretty good at handling all things drivers, it actually finds most of the current drivers out there.

imho experience - leave your drivers alone unless you are having issues.

If everything is working fine, why break / fix it?

New drivers could have issues that will require future fixes. If you're not having problems, leave it be!

I've had Windows Updates of new drivers that left my screen completely blank. Thank goodness I had Acronis True Image to restore to a previous state to recover.

Also, I only go to the manufacturer or the computer maker's site for driver updates. I don't know how 3rd party sites survey the drivers nor how they acquire the drivers, so always best bet to go directly to the source if need be.

I think I'll leave well enough alone. What prompted the question was my attempt to reinstall my Sansa Clip mp3 player after my computer crashed and I reinstalled WinXP. My computer will not recognize the mp3 player & it will not charge when I connect it with the USB cable. I'm guessing the mp3 player has an issue. It does play but won't charge so it's almost dead. I went to Sansa's site and tried to d/l updated drivers but that didn't work because the comp. never recognized it.

Did you run windows update and install WMP11 after your XP reinstall? Did you try a different cable and usb port? There's some other things to try ...

Will the Sansa clip charge via a standard USB and AC adapter? If so then the driver is messed up, or the computer cable is messed up.

In this case if you've tried the Sansa usb drivers then that's about as far as you can go short of another Windows re-install.

Many of the update sites are scams and will try to sell you an unneeded programs or install nasty stuff. So go with Microsoft update and the manufacturers site for firmware and software updates.
