OK, I went into Properties on My Computer and changed the name to "Laptop". My desktop is "owner-1b1398977"

I then went to RUN (on my laptop) and typed in "\\owner-1b198977\c$" (without the quote signs) and it didn't work. I also tried using the IP add. but that didn't work either. The message was "The network path was not found"

Next?

Are you able to ping the desktop from the laptop? Are they on the same network? Is there a firewall enabled on the desktop? you may want to disable it to see if its blocking the connection? If not a firewall might there be some other security software?

Can you go the opposite way(from the desktop to the laptop)?

YEAH!

SUCCESS! It now works. I can now share files between the two. Thanks so much. I'm not sure HOW it happened but it happened. Thanks to all who helped.

I tried to ping using the IP but that didn't work. I then tried using the computer name & that worked. Worked in both directions.

Thanks again.
