Wireless color printer recommendation for Mac
I think it is time to upgrade my home printer to a wireless model that will work with my Macbook. We don't need a high volume model, just something that will print a few pages a day without a hassle. A multifunction with a copier/scanner would be handy, though I really don't need the fax as we don't have a landline.
Any suggestions?

This Canon MP560 is a very nice printer that meets all your listed requirements.

I prefer Laser over Ink and have a Color Laser MFP (Fax/Copier/Scan). CM1312nfi. I'm pretty happy with it, although cartridge replacement costs can be pricey ($200 to replace all 4 at once). We haven't had to replace them in over a year though.

Ive had the Kodak ESP-9 for over a year now and use it for printing and scanning for both Windows and Mac laptops.
My review of the ESP-9 is on line here.
Im generally satisifed with it and the ink - as Kodak advertises - is fairly inexpensive.

The previous suggestion of laser is very sound.
Obtusely the smaller the throughput the more likely you'lll spend a packet on inks drying etc. You can get good lasers for next to the same price as inkjets and the tomer that comes with it will last you and you'll not have the same problems with a wet printer.

Still in the market (yes - 17 months later!) and have narrowed it down to 3 printers that are all priced @ $150 at Staples this week (cheaper at Amazon but I need it now):
They all have decent ratings on Amazon. Any thoughts? Ability to do a wireless scan would be a dealmaker. 4x6 photo quality is critical.
The HP and Epson both come with handy photo paper trays. HP lacks a USB port but has a nice eFax function that doesn't require a landline. The Epson prints photos in 10 seconds but has pricey inks.
- Epson Artisan 730
- Canon Pixma 882
- HP Photosmart 7510

I've used a precursor to the canon for several years now, wirelessly in the house, works great or photos, scanning and other multifunction features like copy/scan to computer etc.. Also I use it with google cloud print fine. It isn't "airplay" or airprint compatible, but I have those features enabled with a small macmini that is always on in the living room.
Price of cartridges is low and even lower when I buy the chipped versions online. Print quality is very good, but for photo print quality I will always give the nod to HP with their paper and their inks. But, that is more costly.

I got the HP, so far so good, probably the best HP printer I've ever had (and one of the cheapest). WiFi setup with Mac and comcast router was fast and easy (a rarity), nice at last to print from anywhere in the house.
Scanning is also wireless though your computer needs to be "awake"
The dual photo/plain paper trays are also a big plus. Also like that this printer (like the others) comes with 5 separate ink dispensers as opposed to the old color/black setup. Printers sure have gotten a lot better over the past few years.
I am still considering a dedicated high quality photo printer that I found on the 'net, but can't seem to locate the US version.
BTW, the Staples $50 "tradein" deal is pretty sweet, especially if you have a junky broken printer lying around.

Glad you are enjoying your new printer. I recently got a new Brother wireless unit and had a dickens of a time setting it up. Luckily for me my son came for a visit and he did it in no time at all. (nice to have an apple tech for a son). I love being able to print from the kitchen table!

- printing or copying is often held up by the printer performing its "maintenance." This involves lots of noise, shaking, and delay, for up to a minute (sometimes more) before even starting the print/copy job.
- it is random how long a print/copy job will take. Sometimes the job begins immediately and finishes in seconds. Other times the printer seems to "think about the task" and the job doesn't start for 30-60 seconds, while various mechanisms within the device are moving around and making noise.
- there are 2 copy buttons, one for copy in color, one for copy in B&W. If you press the "copy in B&W" button the printer still asks you to replace color cartridges that may be low, or will not print at all if any color cartridge is empty.
- for faxing, the printer came with a special phone cord, and specific instructions that only this cord could be connected between the device and the wall jack, or faxing would not work. WTH? This was not my planned layout. From the wall jack I go to my phone, and THEN to the printer/fax. I don't have a dedicated phone jack for the printer! So from day one I have been connecting the device in an unsupported manner. Faxing still works, but the whole issue left a bad taste in my mouth, as any fax failure becomes MY fault...
- The scanner has never recognized computers that are on the same network, so I am unable to scan and have the image go directly to a computer. Instead I have to scan to a USB device than walk it over to a computer. I know, not a huge annoyance, but it's stupid nonetheless.
In not a single review of printer/copier/fax machines have I seen any mention of these types of issues. So I have no idea if my complaints are typical of all machines, HP only, or did I just get a lemon?

Does anyone have recommendations for the same, but a laser one (colour) with duplex (2-sided printing)?
