FreeAgent DockStar on Woot
Hello Fellow FlyerTalkers.
I stumbled across Seagate FreeAgent DockStar Network Adapters on Woot. It looks pretty promising as a cheap NAS device. The device enables access to the contents of the attached USB storage devices over the internet through Pogoplug, which seems like a good feature for traveling.
The part that really interests me is the ability to share files on my LAN with Windows File Sharing which can be done without Pogoplug service. So this device should still work even if the startup goes belly up. I also like the ability to see a cheap NAS without loading software onto my computers.
I just bought two but haven't used them before so can't vouch for the performance. Woot is only charging 19.99 vs. Seagate's 79.99 and Pogoplug's 129.
