Good linux distro for SD card?

Looking to put a distribution of Linux on a bootable SD card for those times when I do not need to boot into Windows. Getting online quick to check Yelp for dinner, or finding the hotel reservation that didn't make it onto my Blackberry.

Anyone have any experience?

I've installed Jolicloud on my device, but I think it'll also do live off SD cards. Very quick, and nice for small devices.

I'm not sure what sort of device you're using, but my experience with using Linux from a high-speed USB memory stick is that it was much, much slower than booting into Windows itself. May not be worth the trouble but YMMV

How big of a SD card?

I like TinyCore Linux for small applications. It boots extremely quickly, especially if you install very few apps.

That's been my experience as well: booting from the SD slot on my laptop does not seem to be faster than booting from the hard drive, even with a fast card.

That also depends on the Linux distro that you choose. Some are optimized for fast boot (like TinyCore, Puppy, and Arch, for example), some (like Ubuntu) are nearly as bloated and slow as Windows.
