Kayak Trips Beta
While messing with the Kayak iPhone update, I discovered Kayak Trips. It's basically a competitor to TripIt and Worldmate. Forward confirmations to [email protected] and it does the rest.
You have to set it up from a browser www.kayak.com/trips
I threw a bunch of reservations at it - Marriott, SPG and AA flights for both me and my fiance.
It correctly parsed every confirmation and put the trips together exactly. One included starting with a Dallas hotel then an AA flight to Cancun, hotel then back. I thought the first hotel would throw it off but it got it right! It even figured out a one way trip for my fiance belonged with my round trip reservations.
You can share individual trips (all reservations associated to a trip) via e-mailing a link from the trip page. Unlike TripIt the person you sent it to doesn't have to create an account - nice. TripIt also requires that you purchase the Pro version to share trips.
Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a way to give permission for someone to view all your trips (i.e. assistant) so you have to remember to send each one.
From the phone you can view trip details (flight info, airline numbers, etc.) but it does not have the extended details that TripIt does (alternate flight availability etc.).
For their first effort I'd have to say Kayak did extremely well! It would only take a few additional features for me to not renew my TripIt Pro subscription.
