Keeping wireless mouse synched

My corded travel mouse died in the RCC yesterday while I was waiting for my international flight. Since I hate touchpads and they slow me down considerably, I went looking for a mouse to buy before boarding. The only one I could find was a Belkin wireless mouse. It took me forever to sync it to the USB dongle to work, then after turning off the computer it wasn't synced when I turned it on. A Google search turns up lots of problems with wireless syncing and no solutions. I'll be out of the country for two weeks and really want to use this mouse. Is there a solution, or am I doomed to trying a gazillion times each time I turn on the computer?
