Google Wave invites...

Don't want to clutter this thread up with an OT discussion, so can anyone point me to a thread that discusses exactly what Google Wave is and why I would want an invite? 
I've read some of the general descriptions of it, but I'd like more info to see if it's even worth trying to get in on.
Of course, if someone wants to give me an invite so I can try it out for myself, I'd be grateful. I think I might have a Google Voice invite to trade (maybe not, though--I don't see a link in GV to send an invite).

The screenshots and brief descriptions on that page still don't jump out at me, but I'll look more if I get one of the invites I requested (thanks for the hint, Pat!).

Time Magazine had a good article on Wave last week. It looked better in print, but here's the web version.
Now it looks like something I want to try!
