I've used the American Express service before, and found it quite simple, but I've never made a claim, so I can't report how good they actually are.

I have used American Automobile Association (on an Award Trip). The AAA was very thorough at purchase and seemed to have a good program. Fortunately I did not have to make a claim.

Here's are two good articles about travel insurance products sold in the US. The first article describes the several types of travel insurance. The second has additional information and several links to travel insurance websites.

I have an annual policy through Travel Guard. But insuremytrip.com is a great start to seeing what is available, what you are trying to insure, etc.

You had better use American Automobile Association (AAA). I'm using it. It was very thorough at purchase and seemed to have a good program. Fortunately I did not have to make a claim.

Access America is easy to sign up for and affordable. They have a good reputation but I don't know how easy it is to process a claim.
