Humidifier for the dry hotel A/C
Usually, every hotel I go to I battle with the A/C, especially in the summer. It's often on or off, with no way to control the speed of air flow. This dries out my nose so much that I wake up with a little blood on my pillow.
Does anyone have recommendations on portable humidifiers to bring along so that the room isn't so dry during the night?

I use it all the time at home in the winter when the air is so dry because of the low humidity levels in my house. I also find on long flights the air is so dry in the airplane that my nose dries out, so I use the spray every so often to keep my nasal passages moist.
I think this would be much easier to carry with you than lugging around a humidifier, especially when traveling by air.

Use the shower to fill a stoppered bathtub about half full and leave it that way all night.Turn off the A/C and leave it off all night for best results. Doing this bathtub bit in the the wintertime humidifies even better and I do it every night.

Just when I thought I had learned everything there was to learn here. I usually don't have problems, but places like LAS drive me nuts after a few days from the dry air. Will have to try that next time. Then again, a half full tub of water could be a death trap in Vegas.

I have a small (about 1/2 gallon capacity) humidifier that I have taken on trips. It fits inside my suitcase easily, and it humidifies about 8 hours, so it lasts through the night. It is fairly quiet on low.

Some hotels provide humidifiers on request (although it tends to be only higher end properties). And in case of desperation -- although it's hardly an eco-friendly solution -- you can just leave the shower running at a low flow rate.
