I got a bit bored and finally put all of my Continental Airline photos into a set which can be seen Here.
I can't remember if I had posted my Northwest Airline photo set here or not but they can be found Here.

I went to "Imperial Hill" on the south side of LAX again yesterday. Here are some highlights. Air quality was poor due to brush fire near the Getty Center to the north. I can't even see the highrises of Century City. Full gallery here: http://rkkwan.zenfolio.com/lax070809 [Canon 40D, 70-200/4L IS with Kenko 1.4x]

This 722, "Voodoo 1" N289MT (ex-AA N701AA), is owned by Raytheon as a testbed for avionics. Flightaware.com doesn't track this aircraft, so can't tell where it came from. ISO200, f/8, 1/500.

awesome shots. getting that 722 is a great catch!!

As a planespotter at that location, my favorite plane is the A343, because it uses the most runway to takeoff, so it passes me at the lowest elevation.

TN7 to PPT, A343 F-OJTN. ISO100, f/8, 1/250 or 1/320.

Over 8,000ft of the 12,000ft Runway 25R used, and 4 wheels are still on the ground:

Spectacular shot, SQ4000. Looks almost like a rendering with the clouds and the simplicity of the white paint. ^^^^

+1 ^ How did you take it? At how many ft (estimate) was the plane when you took it?

Also does anyone know what causes the white trails to come of the winglets?

lallyr and Mike,

Thanks for your kind comments.

How was it taken? Well, it was all luck :D and with help from a D700.

The aircraft was climbing over central London after taken off from LHR, I think it would be between 6000 - 8000 ft, I enclose the full frame of the photo so you can judge the hight for yourself.

According to the metadata, it was taken at ISO 640, F/14 @ 1/800s, with lens set at 300mm. The reason I said with help from a D700, is that all previous photos of this type were unusable, this time its diffrent, may be due to the fact its a FX (Full frame chip)?
