Yeah, interesting observation.

Took this a while ago at IAH. AF 773 arriving in the rain. Thrust reverser starting to deploy while nose wheel still not on the ground. Not as much as the AA picture, however:

I asked that question in the UA Ask the Pilot thread after seeing the AA picture. One of the regular posters who answers in there is a 'Bus captain, and he said that the nacelles retracting doesn't necessarily mean that thrust is being reversed...said it took time to start the reversal process and that his personal thing was to execute the action that started reversal as soon as the mains touched the runway. YMMV from pilot to pilot and jet to jet, I'm sure, but still interesting.

A US A321 taking off over top of a DH8 with collapsed nose gear on the parallel runway at PHL this afternoon (11.16.08):

The picture is a bit crappy, but I was way too far away for my 200mm lens to do much better.

A couple more of the collapsed nose gear are here.

Can you see the plane in this one? :p SQ7884 744F ANC-LAX, from my rooftop. It's still heading east before making the U-Turn to get down to LAX. Took it the evening before the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival:
