A Few Shots from London
I recently spent 10 days in London traveling around. The weather was not always the greatest, as it is the United Kingdom after all, so I looked for some new opportunities of things to try for some of the iconic things things of London. My results of some of the classic locations.
I'd welcome any comments or criticisms.
1. Photo Color Popping Iconic London
2. Big Ben and the Westminster Bridge just after sun set.
3. Zoom Burst of Big Ben & the Parliament Building
4. Buckingham Palace - home to Elizabeth II. Where she queens …. and vacuums (for any National Lampoon’s fans out there)
5. Light trails over the Westminster Bridge and Big Ben
6. The Eye over London
7. St. Paul’s Cathedral in Reflection
8. One of the Palace guards marching baton during the changing of the guard ceremony

#1 is a nice shot but the selective colour is probably too much of a cliche.
The second one is good but cropping the top off Elizabeth tower was probably not a good idea.
Not really sure the zoom burst in #3 really works.
Love the colour in #4, works well.
Cool composition in #6 & #8 too.

Thanks everyone for your comments.
Re: #1, thanks, but who cares. It's meant to be a cliche for a reason.
Re: #2, I think over all the photo looks nice. yes, sad that I missed the very top portion of the tower, but in my opinion it still looks OK, especially with the light trails of the bus.
Re: #3, I think, actually, it does work well. The fact that the parliament building portion does not take away from the over all photo with only big ben is why I believe it does work well.
Re: #4, I think I really got lucky with this shot. Of the 7 days that I was in London, it was one of the only days that was completely sunny and warm.
RE: #6/8: #6 is one of my favorites, too.
My MacBook pro does not show that much grain, so I'm not sure what you're viewing. The ISO was actually around 160-200 for all of the night photos, with much longer exposure times (8-20 sec). Hmm.
#8 was taken with a Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens.
