Shipping pets
Im needing to fly my dogs from SAN FRAN to CAPE TOWN (RSA)-apparently I have to send them into RSA via cargo, its the law. Some want to charge me 2000$ for this -is there a cheaper way? This is through a pet co. but through a airline direct its 1600$ still is a lot of money for 2 dogs-does anyone have a better alternative-somebody suggested a freight forwarding compnay however I cannot find one that does live animlas-thank you

If you were to do a Google search here are some of the companies listed:
Animal Land Pet Movers
http://www.petmovers.com
Pet Transporter Worldwide
http://www.pettransporter.com
Also there is the IPATA which according to their website is an international trade association of animal handlers, pet moving providers, kennel operators, veterinarians and others who are dedicated to the care and welfare of pets and small animals during transport locally, nationwide and worldwide. They have a search engine that helps you select transporters.

If I am not mistaken they all use commercial carriers and you are basically paying them a fee for a service you can book yourself with various airlines. I suggest that you do a great deal of research on this topic before booking with any of them. You may wish to question these companies extensively and figure out which airlines they use and then book it directly yourself to save some money. @:-)
No matter who you decide to use I am sure it will be expensive but the bottom line is our pets are worth it. Good luck!!! ^
