I thought VX was neither large nor American?

It depends on whether the government considers AA and UA 'too large to fail'. Which big carriers are in current ghoul pool?

As much as I have learned to dislike UA over the last couple years, I'd say the most vulnerable carrier IMO is US.

Speaking of Star Alliance carriers- I have really respected CO over the years, but I really worry about their produt once they officially move to Star Alliance.

He must think VX is large...

At least he realizes America is not bailing out his non-american company!

I think US may have stabilized their ops some, looking at the DOT stats. UA is the one I really wonder about- they continually bleed red ink, and their whole model is based on coddling premium/elite pax and treating non-status pax like dirt. In an economy where F and C aren't allowed on the expense report, this is a problem.

Less than 30 planes? F9 has almost twice as many planes. G4 has more planes. They are about the same size as YX, a bit bigger, but seriously, they are a minnow.

That would have been the first time Branson admits his own company is failing, finally?

I am shopping for a o/w ticket between SAN and SEA for Jun 21 late afternoon and see this:

UA: $150
AS: $294
VX: $295

As much as I want to get onto the night club, it looks like I am too late unless I pay almost double of what UA wants...

where are you looking?

I'm showing 6:30pm nonstop AS flight is $279 all in.

UA is $192 with a plane change in SF
VX is $257 also with a plane change in SF

Not to mention UA is flying regional jets IIRC.

I got all of them from kayak. If I can get UA for $150, about $100 less for a 3 to 4 hours trip, I will just bear with UA. UA is showing 320 and 757 on the two segments, so at least they are better than the regional jets or AS's 734 in my opinion.

I did another quick search but still didn't see your prices. Would you share where you got those? Thx.

Not sure if "He" refers to me, but for the record, I was making the point to say VX is NOT large, and therefore probably isn't the one Branson is talking about. In reality, VX is the one Branson should be talking about, as it is one of the most vulnerable IMO.
