MIA Construction Update
Why there hasn't been an investigation about this is beyond me:

The contracts add to the escalation in construction expenses at MIA: The projected cost of the overall airport improvement program has risen by nearly $1 billion in late 2006 to $6.2 billion. Costs for the North Terminal alone soared from $975 million at the plan's rollout in 1995 to $2.853 billion today. Pushed back again and again, its completion is now set for June 2011.
As a result, the per-passenger fees MIA charges to airlines -- which Abreu had hoped would hover in the low $30s by 2015 -- could rise to about $34 in 2015, from the current $17.39.

There are no investigations in this citystatecounty joke, the only way there is ever an investigation is if the feds have to forcibly by court order take over some corrupt division of the government.

yes that too. We just need to give all government 90% budget cuts and then we'd be in great shape, and make them stick to budget.

There is soooo much blame to go around here but it devloves to two main culprits:
First, AA does not have clean hands in the mess that is MIA construction and reconstruction. Read up on this nasty chapter in the Herald's archives. Second, the Miami-Dade County Commission needs to create an INDEPENDENT airport authority as has been called for by activists and fed up residents for years. It would be great to see the commissioners stop treating MIA as their personal piggy bank. Angela Gittens, where are you now?
