Flagging problem guests?
Anyone else see this article in USA Today?
http://www.usatoday.com/travel/news/...d-guests_x.htm
Interesting...I can see how hotels would want to flag trouble guests, but I'd hate to be placed on such a list by an employee just trying to be a problem (not that I have ever done anything like in the article!)

Fun article. I am sure that there are some guests that can be a real pain. I imagine that the hotel has to be careful about flagging a guest--particularly in this litigious world of ours.

It reminded me of that episode of "Seinfeld" years ago where Elaine's physician wrote a comment in her chart. When Elaine tried to change it, she was flagged at every physician's office!

Something similar to that happened in NC this year - a pharmacy chain (Rite-Aid or someone) put the words "crazy yeller" in someone's profile and they found out about it.
And went crazy and yelled.
But the point is that when they searched their records they found all sorts of horrible things written by the employees.

and
cruise and airlines do it also. I know a lawyer who was banned from a cruiseline and then banned from an international airline. The guy yells at people very often.

I couldn't fault any hotel or airline that did this to known abusive people. People who try to scam free things or disturb other guests make the hotel look bad to the honest folks. I probably wouldn't come back to a hotel that I had a particulary bad experience involving another guest in.
It would be nice if certain minimum standards of conduct were adhered to by all. A generally polite society.

Only a matter of time before this happens to a member of a protected class (female, color, age, disabled - basically someone besides a white man :-) and they get their heinies sued off.

Back in the days before widespread use of computerized and networked reservations systems, there were stories of how guests like rock bands were permanently banned from chains. (The Who and Holiday Inns come to mind.) In a paper-driven system, how would this type of ban been held up? Would there be a monthly list of banned people?
