Lessons from the Fall of Eastern

Interesting article on the demise of Eastern in today's Washington Post.

There were interviews with former Eastern employees including Frank Lorenzo, who provided a quote that I thought as awake to current legacy carriers and flyers with thousands if not millions of miles at stake:

"We certainly learned that airlines are not immortal."

UA seemingly aware

A UA Finance (chicago) employee who I sat next to on a flight a month and a half ago, said they had been shown a video of the Eastern airlines demise the week before. Apparently the video showed interviews with (at that point) ex Eastern employees.
